Report on May 10 lunch, update on Scholarship Fund and the key to Finnish happiness. A request for life stories.
Hi guys,
Well, the Aberfoyle Mill survived another of our class lunches on May 10. 13 guys and 10 ladies were in attendance - mugshots below.
There was lots of chatter back and forth around the table. It’s very evident that your classmates continue to be busy people, even in retirement - hobbies, travel (both completed and planned), reno projects (both underway and planned), with ample time in between for a little R&R and the occasional doctor appointment.
We have set a tentative date of Wednesday October 18 for the next class lunch, please mark it on your calendar.
Bob Taylor reported that the class scholarship fund is progressing well and we are on the way toward funding a second scholarship student. Thank you all for supporting this initiative!
Oiva Lane provided a dissertation on why Finns are such happy people. He offered several explanations but the one that stood out was a certain type of alcoholic beverage of Finnish origin which if imbibed in sufficient quantities, leaves a long-lasting smile.
It was proposed to reach out to our out-of-province & out-of-country classmates who can’t attend these regular lunches to provide an update on their activities as a way of keeping in touch by e-contact. Kelly Wilson has offered up his story which is attached for your reading pleasure. He notes that he omitted the parts about being bombed (literally) and eating deep fried scorpion – you will have to contact him to follow up on those events…
Kelly asks that the stories be offered up by all classmates, not just the ‘out-of-towners’. Any volunteers??
Have a great Summer.
Tom and Vic
